Thank you for taking the time to find out a little bit more about St Thomas More College. I would like to welcome you to the most exciting period of growth for the College since its foundation in 1955! The College is located on Mounts Bay Road, directly opposite the University of Western Australia. Our College campus is safe and secure. To provide support for our residents, my Deputy and I live on campus with our respective families. 17 Resident Advisors (RAs) also assist with attending to the welfare needs of our College community. St Thomas More College has developed 245 NRAS (National Rental Affordability Scheme) apartments to complement the current provision of the College. NRAS is sponsored by both the State and Federal Governments and provides a financial incentive for the development of affordable accommodation. For the younger student, the College is set up to help make your transition from school to university life as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. Our standard rooms and RA
structure allow you to become a part of the community in no time. It’s not just student accommodation - think of it as your home away from home. In fact, in some ways, it’s better than home! We cook all your meals, clean your room, help you with your studies - we do everything we can so all you have to worry about is your studies - and having the most complete university experience. For students in second year or above at the College, we offer accommodation that is sympathetic to your evolving needs and independence. Our studios and one bedroom apartments are detailed later in this prospectus. While new applicants can request one of the new rooms, it is the policy of the College that students who have come through the standard accommodation as first year residents, who qualify under the NRAS conditions, will have the priority option of procuring one of these rooms to live in when vacancies arise. I encourage all prospective residents to look through the details on our website at www.stmc.uwa.edu.au
to gain a sense of the history and tradition of the College as well as the vibrancy of the contemporary community. While on the website please take a look at our College magazine, which is called “The Utopian”. It was our patron, St Thomas More, who wrote the book “Utopia” - hence the name. The magazine is presented in the form of an interactive online magazine however, it is easily downloaded as a PDF and shared with friends and parents. While on the website I invite you to follow the links to our Facebook and Instagram pages. 3D virtual tours can be undertaken under the “Galleries” menu. As always youareextremelywelcome to visit the College to discuss your options for residency and perhaps take a tour of the campus. Please contact our College Registrar Mel Carnachan at: email@example.com or +61 8 9386 0111. Withbestwishes for your endeavours now and in the future.
